Haile Selected for Sosman Award

The award for Professor Sossina Haile is the highest recognition of scientific accomplishment given by the Basic Science Division in the American Ceramic Society

Northwestern Engineering’s Sossina Haile has been selected to receive the 2025 Robert B. Sosman Award from the Basic Science Division (BSD) in the American Ceramic Society (ACS).

Haile is the Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials Science and Engineering. She works to elucidate the relationship between structure, chemistry, and properties in electrochemically functional solids, particularly oxides, as relevant to sustainable energy technologies.

The Robert B. Sosman Award is the highest recognition of scientific accomplishment given by the BSD. The award is given in honor of outstanding achievement in basic science of an area that results in a significant impact to the field of ceramics.

A symposium will be held in Haile’s honor at the ACerS 127th Annual Meeting, scheduled for September 28 – October 1, and held as part of the Materials Science & Technology joint conference.
